Commissions

The Art that starts with you.

Unlike other artwork you may have commissioned, engaging with daeuArt does not begin with a brief. Instead, it begins with a conversation with artist Daeu Angert, who listens intently for sparks of inspiration as you share what matters most: your values, experiences, work…and the atmosphere you wish to create in your space. In other words, you become the artist’s muse.

The Process

To begin, submit a brief application to introduce yourself: a little bit of who you are, what matters to you, and the space where you envision your artwork will live. Every application is thoughtfully reviewed. Because of the nature of the work and the time it takes, commissions are limited to 6 per year.

  • 1

The Conversation. If your application is selected, you’ll have a one-on-one conversation with Daeu focused on your values, experiences, and the atmosphere you hope the artwork will evoke. This is not about giving direction, but about creating space for inspiration. If the dialogue resonates, Daeu will accept the commission and begin the work.

  • 2
The Creation. Daeu creates the piece guided entirely by her vision, intuition, and artistic language. There are no sketches or progress updates. The work is revealed only when complete. The result is a one-of-a-kind work of art shaped by your story and true to her practice.
  • 3

Potential Exhibition. Your commissioned piece may be featured in a future daeuArt exhibition. Select works are showcased in our pop-up shows, offering viewers insight into the stories that inspired them.

  • 4

The Delivery. Your finished artwork arrives carefully packaged and ready to hang; a piece that holds your story and the creative journey you set in motion.

  • 5

Giving Back. With every commission, a donation is made to the daeuArt Foundation, providing art supplies, musical instruments, and creative resources to children in underfunded communities. Your commission helps spark creativity in the next generation of artists and thinkers.

FAQ

Why do I need to apply?2026-01-19T18:33:46-05:00

The application process ensures a meaningful creative fit. Daeu’s work is deeply personal and intuitive. The application allows both you and the artist to determine whether there’s genuine alignment before moving forward. This protects the integrity of the work and ensures each commission is created with intention.

Does submitting an application obligate me to buy?2026-01-19T19:49:07-05:00

No. Submitting an application creates no obligation to purchase. You’re also not committed after your initial conversation with Daeu.

The only financial commitment occurs when you pay the 10% non-refundable deposit—this happens only after both you and Daeu agree to move forward with the commission.

The remaining 90% is due upon your acceptance of the work. However, if the work doesn’t resonate with you, you can simply walk away, and the artwork remains with the artist.

What happens after I submit my application?2026-01-19T18:34:25-05:00

Each application is thoughtfully reviewed. If there’s potential for creative resonance, you’ll be contacted to schedule a conversation. During this dialogue, Daeu listens for the emotional threads and details that would inspire her to create, ensuring the conditions are right for a meaningful work to emerge.

Do I get to choose the colors, subject, or style?2026-01-19T18:34:46-05:00

No. This is not a collaborative or directive process. The artwork is entirely guided by Daeu’s vision, intuition, and established visual language rooted in abstraction and symbolism. While you won’t direct any creative choices, your presence, values, and space provide the emotional foundation that shapes the work. The result is a piece that’s both personal to you and authentic to the artist’s practice.

How long does the process take?2026-01-19T18:24:32-05:00

From your initial conversation to delivery, the process typically takes 4–6 months. This includes creation time and the necessary drying period before the artwork can be safely shipped.

What size will my artwork be?2026-01-19T18:25:35-05:00

The size is determined by Daeu based on your conversation, the dimensions of your space, and what the work calls for. Specific dimensions will be agreed to before creative work starts.

Will my artwork be framed?2026-01-19T18:26:34-05:00

Framing is not included, as each collector’s space and preferences differ. We’re happy to recommend trusted framing partners or arrange custom framing for an additional fee upon request.

What is the investment for a commissioned piece?2026-01-19T18:27:51-05:00

Commissions begin at $20,000. Payment follows a milestone schedule outlined in the Commissioned Art Contract:

  • Initial Deposit – 10% (non-refundable): Due upon acceptance. This secures your place in Daeu’s calendar.
  • Final Payment – 90%: Due upon completion, after you’ve had the opportunity to view the finished work. If you choose to move forward, the balance is due before delivery. If not, there is no further obligation—the artwork remains with the artist.
What forms of payment do you accept?2026-01-19T18:28:30-05:00

We accept major credit cards and ACH bank transfers. Payment instructions are provided once your commission is accepted. There is a convenience fee of 3% for using credit cards.

What if I don’t like the finished artwork?2026-01-19T18:29:24-05:00

Once complete, you’ll have the opportunity to view the piece. If you choose to move forward, the final payment is due before delivery. If you decide not to proceed, there is no further obligation and the artwork remains with Daeu and you part as friends.

Will my commissioned piece be shown publicly?2026-01-19T18:30:22-05:00

Select commissioned works may be featured in future daeuArt exhibitions or pop-up shows. If your piece is considered for exhibition, you’ll be notified in advance.

How is the artwork shipped?2026-01-19T18:31:14-05:00

Your piece is professionally packaged and shipped with full insurance. Shipping costs are calculated based on your location and provided separately. International shipments may require additional documentation.

Can I visit Daeu’s atelier during the creation process?2026-01-19T18:32:10-05:00

You can visit the atelier, but you will not be able to see your piece. Part of the daeuArt commission experience is the element of discovery. The work unfolds privately, and you won’t see it until the final reveal.

How does my commission support the daeuArt Foundation?2026-01-19T18:33:14-05:00

A portion of every commission is donated to the daeuArt Foundation, which provides art supplies, musical instruments, and creative resources to children in underserved communities.
